It was at 12 years old when Danny found his first passion, photography. Its currents would carry him to London’s EC1 ‘Photographic Mile’ as Danny Chau Photolabs in 1983, a fine art traditional darkroom. Digital imaging, his second love, was in its nascency when he invested in the earliest film and flatbed scanners, followed by inkjet printers long before the dawn of the digital era. By April 1998, he installed one of the UK’s first large-format printers, the Epson 9000, before rebranding as Chaudigital in 2002 and becoming a colour management consultant.
After 22 years as a traditional fine art printer, Danny left his London studio to family and uprooted to Hong Kong in 2006. In 2008, he brought Louis Vuitton and Chow Yun Fat’s Moving Pictures exhibition to life, kickstarting Chaudigital HK that same year. Considered a master in his field, this was further consolidated by Hahnemühle presenting Chaudigital HK with their Certified Studio Platinum status, a prestigious claim held only by a handful of studios worldwide.
Danny has been interviewed by the likes of The British Journal of Photography, Amateur Photographer and Panorama magazine.
